| Reclining Buddha statue and other special-posture Buddha statue such as standing
and carrying bowl (Pang Um Baath, lifting two hands to stop torrent ocean (Pang Haam
Samut), etc mostly are of Ratchakan art. They were made by old-time artisans and spreaded
in a lot of temples. Age of Ratchakan art is approximately 80-150 years. Ratchakan Buddha
statue is a classic art piece and widely collected for home altar. The bronze surface
of the above reclining Buddha statue turned brown-black due to its oldness. Almost all LPs in Thailand scarcely make special-posture Buddha statues like the above one because it's a specific Buddha statue for one who was born on Tuesday. So, they prefer making common posture of Smadhi or Maravichai on Buddha statues as we have always seen.
