The B.E.2529 five inches lap LP Od's mini statue. It's the prototype for the well-known B.E.2531 Mondop-batch hanging statuette. | |
Good craftmanship and impressive old classic looking bronze. | Three Katha on Sangkhati. Even the statue made only 14 years, the bronze surface look rather old classic caused by natural open-air oxidization |

The great Guru LP Doem of Wat Nong Pho had his small group of top disciples, such
as LP Kant of Wat Khao Kaew, LP Noi of Wat Nongpho, LP Od of Wat Chansen, LP Sodh of Wat
Hangnamsakorn, LP Onn of Wat Kokdua, and LP Oii of Wat NongBua. LP Od was both LP Doem's
and LP Roong's (Wat NongSieNuan) disciple and nephew, and learned invulnerability and
impenetrability from the two LPs. Few month before LP Doem passed away in B.E.2494, some
important Katha books recorded by LP Doem himself were sent to LP Od. Many years
later after LP Doem passed away, LP Od learned Visha with LP Phrom of Wat Chong Kae and LP
Chaen of Wat Singh (Singhburi). By learning from all of his Gurus, LP Od created
amulets very efficaciously. His amulets are widely known by experiences in invulnerability
and impenetrability, they can be used as a substitution for LP Doem's. LP Od passed away
in B.E. 2532 at the age of 72. The above 5-inch lap mini statue of LP Od made in B.E.2529 called Roon Sarng Rong Krua or the batch of building temple's kitchen. It's a professional collection item because of its classic style--original bronze with old surface in some degree. The mini statues of this batch were made 700 pieces, about 50 pieces were cast at the temple for first auspicious blessing ceremony and the other 650 pieces were cast at the factory. The significant difference between the two statues is that the temple-casting pieces are much heavier with their original classic bronze surface while the factory-made pieces are much lighter and brushed surface brown black (some are gold-plating surface) Both temple-casting and factory-casting are same batch, same Phim (mold), and same code of the small Khom script " Na" on the statue's left shoulder. Yet, their craftmanship, surface and weight are not the same. The temple-casting piece's price is higher than that of factory-casting item moderately. In collecting Thai amulets if we have more deeper information that other collectors don't have it, we may get the rare-to-find masterpiece on that same batch. This is amulets collecting professional way. |
