Tapian Fish of Wealth & Fortune Chao Khun Sri(Prayad),Wat Suthat, B.E.2495 |
|
Tapian fish is the propitious symbol of lucky, wealth &
fortune, flourish commerce, and a crowd of descendants. The above pair is Wat Suthat's
Chao Khun Sri (Prayad) rare Tapian fish of B.E. 2495. One is silver and the other one
bronze, aggregatedly called "
Tapian Ngern,Tapian Thong ", representing
Good Luck, Wealth and Fortune. Both Tapians carry Khom scripts on all parts of their
bodies--heads, fins, and tails. Chao Khun Sri (Prayad) was a high ranking Guru monk and a close disciple of Somdej Phra Sankharaj (Pae), the Supreme Patriarch of Wat Suthat. Once Chao Khun Sri (Prayad) had created so efficacious amulets and put them in his food bowl for blessing. Later, the supreme Patriach saw a bright radiant light emitting from the bowl. Then he admired Chao Khun Sri (Prayad)'s ability on creating such so efficacious amulets. Chao Khun Sri (Prayad) has given some old
holy metal of the Supreme Patriach to melt with to create efficacious Tapian fish. His
pair of Tapian fish has long been so great as wealth & fortune magnet but now they are
becoming so rare. According to Thai Buddhist religious legends, before Lord Buddha enlightened, he had been born uncountable lives and practiced Bodhisattava Dhamma. Once he had been born a Tapian fish. It was legendarily told that the Bodhisattava Tapian fish was so kind, he helped protect the merchants sailing for their trade voyage and blessed them a good trading result. This is why a lot of merchants who perform waterway trade in the old times would put one Tapian fish at the front of the vessel while the other one at the back. Vocab: |
